WHAT IS THREADING?
Threading has been around for centuries and originated in Asia and the Middle East. It consists of nothing more than what it’s name suggests, thread. Nothing more, nothing less, no fancy tools or techniques.
The threading technician doubles and twists the thread and sweeps over the shape of the eyebrow allowing for precision and definition. Unlike plucking or waxing, threading it doesn’t pull or tug at the sensitive skin around the eye area.
Eyebrows have been a growing trend for centuries. Women from all different eras have always taken special care of their brows, from highly pigmented arches in ancient Egypt to barely-even-there in the middle ages, all through to the bold brows we see today. But one of the fastest growing trends when it comes to maintaining the perfect brow shape is actually quite an ancient practice.
Threading does not involve any heat or chemicals and so is safe for everyone. There are no risks of mild burns or irritation as there can be with wax.
DOES IT HURT?
In a nutshell, it can be a bit uncomfortable at times. Any procedure that entails hair being removed from the root is going to be slightly painful, but it only lasts a few seconds!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Depending on the area being threaded, it can take more or less time. On average, an eyebrow threading session will last no more than 20 minutes (add and extra 15-20 minutes if tint is involved)
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Everyone’s hair grows at different rates, but on average threading can last between 2-5 weeks.
DOES IT WORK ON ALL SKIN & HAIR TYPES?
Essentially yes. As there are no chemicals involved, it doesn’t cause irritation or skin sensitivity to those who may be taking medication for example. It can be used on different areas such as lip, chin and face too. Unless you have recently undergone a cosmetic procedure which has left your skin ultra-sensitive, you’re good to go.
